Master 2° level in Phytotherapy

The post-graduate course is jointly offered by the University of Cagliari and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, one of the oldest and most respected Spanish members of the Europaeum.

Because of an agreement of international cooperation, from its second year (2009-2010) the course will offer an International Master's degree with dual qualification recognised throughout the European Union: ‘Master di 2° livello in Fitoterapia’ and the equivalent ‘Titulo de Especialista en Fitoterapia’.

The course covers a year's work concentrated in three full-time sessions of lectures, practical sessions and working experience in companies in the herbal product business sector. Students will earn 60 credits (ECTS).

Professionals studying on the course will develop appreciation of the potential and relevance of phytotherapies, and analyse information on natural therapies from a scientific standpoint. Account must be taken of chemical-pharmacological properties and recent clinical evidence provided by official sources, assessing the correct balance between phytotherapy and pharmacology on the basis of EBM, and suitably implementing pharmacovigilance. Students will also study ethnomedicine, legislation and marketing in the phytotherapy field, and the psychological aspects of the relationship between health professionals and their patients.
